Elena grew up in Hoboken, above her family's deli. She cooked in Athens, then in Palermo, then at Marea in New York. The freight shed on Sinatra Drive was on her walk as a child, and in 2022 she opened it as Fig & Ferry. She is the chef and the owner, and the wood oven and the charcoal are hers.
